A splendid update. Numbers do indeed match A very late car built in 1960 (November) This one has only just lost the title of the last survivor of this model known with the emergence in USA of S847093DN

Something strange about the numbers.
I have S847058 with engine number VA2249-8 ( LHD 3.8L)
That is 5 numbers higher, but engine one number lower.

Peter Good to know you have S847058. I see you have a re-placement engine fitted. I hope the
original is safe and well in your care. Engines taken from stock to the production line were
rarely in exact sequence. No reason to suspect anything untoward

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
