At online auction BringaTrailer ending 8/25/2016

This 1961 Jaguar XK150 FHC is a two-owner example that was the subject of a comprehensive restoration by the seller from 2008-2009.

Winning the XK class at the 2015 Nashville British Car Club show, the interior was awarded Best Interior of Show at the same event.

The car is an Antique Automobile Club of America first-place winner and was nominated as an Outstanding Vehicle for 2009 by the AACA.

The car is sold with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate (#11741), the original California black plate and full documentation and history since the seller's ownership.

The car lived in San Diego when new and was placed in long-term enclosed storage for most of its first 47 years of ownership. The original black license plate is included in the sale. Painted black shortly after the original owner's purchase, the seller returned the color to its original British Racing green. The paint shows quite well, exhibiting deep shine and gloss over the curvy bodywork. Panel fit and shutlines appear uniform throughout and contrast well with chrome wire wheels that have been fitted with Vredestein radials.

All the original bright work was re-chromed at the time of restoration and present well, with good shine and a finish free of pitting. Equipped with a Webasto sliding roof from the factory, the seller replaced the original with a new unit that is fully operational.

The interior was redone and looks very sharp. New Beige leather and carpet has been fitted throughout and exhibits little wear. All gauges have been conditioned and function appropriately as with all other controls and operations. As the the third-to-last FHC to roll off the production line, there are some interior oddities that distinguish this car, likely attributed to Jaguar using up the remaining XK parts inventory. As a result, the center panel of the dash is Beige leather instead of the standard Grey and the emergency brake handle resides on the driver-side tunnel instead of the standard position on the passenger-side. The headliner and sliding roof lining are in good condition, remaining taut and free of any noticeable imperfections. In addition to the car winning the XK class at the 2015 Nashville British Car Club show, the interior was awarded Best Interior of Show at the same event.

The original 220hp 3.8 liter inline-6 resides in a clean engine bay and was rebuilt by Coventry West. The the twin SU carburetors, 4-speed gearbox and electric overdrive were also rebuilt at the same time. The exhaust manifold was re-porcelained and mated to a twin-pipe stainless-steel exhaust. Having driven the car 4666 miles since restoration, the seller notes the car pulls hard and cruises effortlessly on the interstate.

The wiring harness has been replaced and the electrical system was converted to a single 12 volt battery which is accompanied by a battery tender. Included in the sale is a Jaguar-sanctioned Artic Kar A/C system. Installed by the dealer when new, it was not re-installed during the restoration, though the modifications to the engine compartment have been capped over in a manner that enables easier re-installation if desired by the new owner.

Lift shots exhibit a very clean underside. The suspension has been redone, with new shocks, springs and mounts replacing the originals.

Brakes were re-worked and function as designed. As the only area of rust prior to the restoration, a new pair of battery boxes have been fabricated and installed.

In addition to the honors garnered at the Nashville British Car Club shows, the car is an Antique Automobile Club of America first-place winner and was nominated as an Outstanding Vehicle for 2009 by the AACA. In addition to the complete and refurbished tool-kit, the car is sold with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate (#11741), the original California black plate and full documentation and history since the seller's ownership.

This very sharp 1961 Jaguar XK150 Fixed Head Coupe is a multiple-award-winning example that was the subject of a comprehensive restoration completed in 2009, soon after which it was awarded the AACA National First Prize. One of the last left-hand drive XK150s to roll off the Coventry production line, it was sold new in San Diego, California, reportedly refinished in black, and then placed into enclosed storage for the next 47 years. Under the second owner, it was repainted the original British Racing Green, the interior was completely redone with all new leather upholstery, new carpets and trim, and the factory Smiths instruments were fully reconditioned.

The exterior paint finish remains in outstanding condition, with excellent fit and finish. All brightwork is of comparable superb quality, having been rechromed as part of the Jaguar’s extensive restoration. In addition to award-winning quality, the interior shows some unique features that likely result from the car being the third-last Fixed Head Coupe produced at the very end of XK150 production, when the factory was using up the remaining parts inventory. Specifically, the center dash panel is fitted with beige leather rather than the standard gray, and the emergency brake handle is situated on the driver side of the transmission tunnel instead of the standard passenger side location. It is also fitted with a rare optional sunroof. The fit and quality of materials and finishes were rewarded at the 2015 Nashville British Car Club Show, when the car won both the XK Class and took the overall award for Best Interior of the Show.

The clean and correctly detailed engine compartment is home to a correct 3.8L/220 HP DOHC inline-6 engine, 4-speed manual transmission and electric overdrive. All were rebuilt during the restoration by marque specialists Coventry West in Atlanta, Georgia, who also restored the suspension and brake systems. This multiple-award-winning XK150 comes complete with the original dealer-optional factory air conditioning system, which was never installed but can be easily by the new owner. Also included are trophies, the original California Black Plate, extensive documentation and Jaguar Heritage Trust paperwork.
