Not a true VAS car, first VAS built was 820056 built Oct 14 1959.

Agreed. This was built on 10 Dec 1958 as a 3.4S with engine VS1629-9, body F16870, gearbox JLS42599JS; exterior Mist Grey, interior Light Blue, hood Black. I believe the engine is now ZB1279-8 (Mk 10).

As Paul and MBarnett mention factory records confirm this car did not have a VAS engine. The same engine number, VS1629-9, appears on 831741, built in November '58. Numbering errors were made but this dilemma can't be clarified here with out a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate. Hopefully the owner will apply for it.
