Original S model last on the road in 1979, stored untouched ever since. Now running again, extremely original car which will be re-commisioned for road use but not restored.

    Beaulieu, National Motor Museum
    Registration no. YOP 911
    Chassis no. T824946DN

    *One of 86 XK150 'S' RHD Coupés
    *Manual/overdrive transmission
    *In storage since 1975
    *Outstandingly original
    *Exciting restoration project

It is estimated that only 88 right-hand drive examples of the XK150 'S' 3.4 fixed-head coupé were built, making it one of the rarest of all the variants of this most iconic of post-war British sports cars. Chassis number 'T824946DN', registration number 'YOP 911', was completed in February 1959 as a UK-market, right-hand drive, 3.4-litre 'S' fixed-head coupé finished in Cotswold Blue. It is equipped with the desirable manual/overdrive transmission and has the high (4.09:1) rear axle ratio for relaxed cruising at high speeds. According to the Heritage Certificate, this XK was sold through Jaguar main agents P J Evans of Birmingham to its first owner, Mr J Kitchen of Sutton Coldfield. The old-style VE.60 continuation logbook lists a number of owners up to 1975 when the car was taken off the road. Its last tax disc, valid to December 1975, is still in place on the windscreen.

Offered from long-term private ownership, 'YOP 911' has remained in storage since 1975 but nevertheless has been started periodically and runs and drives well (tested at low speeds on private land) with good oil pressure and the gears and clutch operating well. This 'matching numbers' car has never been fully restored nor indeed ever had a colour change; after 43 years of slumber it now requires full restoration and offers an exciting opportunity to renovate an entirely original example of a very rare model.

On 21 Sep 75, I made a note that I had seen a 3.4 150S FHC RHD reg. YOP 911, Cotswold Blue with dark blue trim. I met the owner and took my car (3.4 150S FHC RHD T825130DN reg. XRV 805, Cotswold Blue with light grey trim) to his house and took a colour photo of the two cars together. The owner lived in Alderton, Gloucestershire, which was only about five miles away from where I lived in Ashchurch, near Tewkesbury. It was an amazing coincidence that these two such similar, fairly rare cars resided so close together. For some reason, I never saw the owner or his car again.
I will email a photo of the two cars together.
Anders Clausager (ex-Jaguar Heritage) states that 86 3.4 RHD 150S FHCs were manufactured. So, this is a rarer model than the 3.8 RHD 150S FHCs at 115!

    Auction description:

The Sale of British Marques 2019

    1959 Jaguar XK150 'S' 3.4-Litre Coupe Project

    Lot No.: 413

    Registration: YOP 911

    Chassis Number: T824946DN

    Engine Number: VS20528

    Number of cylinders: 6

    CC: 3442

    Year of Manufacture: 1959

    RHD/LHD: Right Hand Drive

    Estimate (£): 45,000 - 55,000

One of 86 XK150 'S' right-hand drive coupes, with a manual gearbox and overdrive

Matching numbers, never been previously restored. In storage since 1975 and looks very original

'S' versions came with 210 and 250bhp respectively, the latter delivering an astonishing 0-60mph in 7.3 seconds and 136mph.

A wonderful opportunity to return this highly original XK to the road

‘YOP 911’ is a UK supplied, right-hand drive, 3.4-litre ‘S’ Fixedhead Coupe that was completed in February 1959 and finished in Cotswold Blue. This matching numbers example is equipped with the highly desirable manual/overdrive transmission and has the high rear axle ratio for ‘relaxed cruising’ at high speeds.

The accompanying Heritage Certificate states that ‘T824946DN’ was sold through Jaguar main agents, P J Evans, to its first owner Mr J Kitchen of Sutton Coldfield. A number of owners enjoyed the car up to 1975 when it was taken off the road and its last tax disc, valid until December 1975, is still in place on the windscreen.

‘YOP 911’ remained in long term ownership before being acquired by our owner recently, in order to be fully restored. Unforeseen prior commitments now mean this extremely rare and special car is available once again on the open market. We are informed that it had been started periodically and has recently been tested at low speeds on private land. Interestingly never restored or had a colour change, the time has now come to fully return ‘T824946DN’ to its former glory. It is estimated that only 88 right-hand drive examples were built so this is an exciting opportunity to restore this highly original and rather rare Jaguar.
