Description from above auction:
The Jaguar Heritage Certificate supplied confirms that this XK150 3.8 Litre 'S' was manufactured on the 26th May 1960 as a Fixed Head Coupe in right hand drive form with manual-overdrive transmission. The motor car was supplied to Jaguar distributor P J Evans of Birmingham for its first owner, W.H Pritchard of Cannock, Staffordshire, and was registered as 222 BOM. The current registration was issued by DVLA after a period of restoration, as detailed below.
Having had just four previous custodians, the XK150 has been in the present ownership for some twenty seven years, during which time it has been the subject of a sympathetic and thorough restoration. We are informed that the original colour of Mist Grey had become 'flat' and, although the body was in relatively good shape and with a good panel fit, the motor car did require a re-spray. Therefore, the decision was made not only to refurbish the body, but to also sensibly change the colour to Jaguar Carmen Red. A bare metal re-spray was carried out in 1990 and the body wears the same 'out of the gun' finish today as it did twenty five years ago. The original upholstery has been retained, although the carpet backing of the seats have been replaced, as have the carpets, headlining and dashboard top facia. The original instruments are in working order. The motor car sits on the original silver painted road wheels with correct cross-ply tyres. The bright-work is described as generally very good with just some slight pitting to the rear bumper.
The underside, we are assured, is in very sound condition. At the time of the renovation, a new clutch and wiring loom were fitted and the braking system and carburettors were rebuilt. We understand that the engine compartment has been 'detailed' and the original chassis number plate retained. The vendor assures us that the mechanics and cooling systems are all good and that the exhaust system is stainless steel.
The history file contains a list of previous owners, the aforementioned Jaguar Heritage Certificate, sundry invoices, and the V5C registration certificate."
