"The Jaguar XK 150S is an extremely fast luxury car that is even more delightful when powered by the 3.8-litre engine.
"...all in all, it is a superbly comfortable car with an almost incredible performance, and if £1000 were added to the price it would still represent excellent value." John Bolster, Autosport.
Representing the XK150 in its ultimate configuration, with the 3.8-litre 'S'-specification engine and overdrive gearbox, this car was supplied new to Rossleigh in Edinburgh. It is one of only 69 right-hand drive 3.8-litre XK150S drophead coupés made. The car was originally finished in British racing green with suede green upholstery, the same colour combination it has today. The present owner has had the car for over 40 years. The previous owner was Mr Alex Sibbald of Ratho, Midlothian, Scotland.
The XK benefits from a ground-upwards restoration undertaken over the last eight years. In between stages, it has been stored on axle stands in a car bubble in the owner's garage. Each stage of the restoration has been carried out by the company considered to be the best for that particular job, with personal advice from the Technical Director of the Jaguar Enthusiast's Club, whose guidance has always been much appreciated and followed with care. The chassis restoration was carried out by Leaping Cats Ltd of Coventry, who are considered among the best in the world for Jaguar work. Re-chroming was done by A F C Howell of Walsall; re-upholstery and re-trim by BAS International of South Wales; and new wiring looms by Auto Sparks of Nottingham; while finishing touches were completed by Classic Restorations of Alyth, Perthshire. Extensive restoration records detailing parts purchased and works carried out, which include conversion to 12-volt electrics, are on file.
'985 XVR' represents a wonderful opportunity for the serious Jaguar collector to own a rare example of one of the most powerful limited-production XKs manufactured by Jaguar Cars.
