My father had this car for 20+ years and used it daily for all purposes on our small-holding. This included taking a goat to the vets, standing on the small rear seat, being held by a rope by the passenger in the front seat. Also we had a pushchair carrying frame attached to the boot lid, upon which we tied a fridge to take it home from the market.
We took it to some car shows in the 90s but were ashamed of the condition at 130k miles, the occasional expert liked the originality and we didn't realise why at the time.

The above events happened before the Jaguar XK150s drop head coupe started to become a classic. Then my father rebuilt the engine himself, replaced the goat skin roof and leather interior. A proper paint shop had to work on all the bodge repairs that had been made previous to the complete respray with the the same original 'pearl gray'

The car was sold to a Jaguar enthusiast who could see my father was reluctant to sell it and made him a 8" long model on a plaque for him to keep.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
