on Auction at Bonhams:

www.bonhams.com/auctions/23133/lot/128/

Description:

This XK150s roadster from the first year of production represents the most desirable variant of the xk150 line up. The "S" specification motor pumps out 250hp and the sleek lightweight roadster coachwork this the ultimate combination. With factory overdrive this 150 will happily charge down the road at modern highway speeds. A well designed top with proper side windows increase their versatility.

Factory finished in Carmen red over black this 150S was dispatched from the works November 26 1958 to Jaguar Cars, New York. Its first owner was Mr. J Bergstrom Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Presented today as a very good older restoration this Jag looks fresh and runs strong. Restored to its original color scheme this 150s is a fully numbers matching example that is verified with included Jaguar Heritage Certificate. This Jaguar is offered with an original tool kit and extensive original Jaguar sales and maintenance literature.

XK150s are recognized of one of the most desirable and usable Jags of their era. With potent performance and refined comfort they continue to be some of the most coveted Jaguars. Offered from private ownership this represents excellent value in a premier collector Jaguar.

Car to return to auction 7/16

Auction description:
Lot 158
US registration,
EU customs cleared
Chassis #: T831629DN
Engine #: VS 1543-9

- Two owners, 40 years in the same hands
- Original chassis and engine numbers
- Certified by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust

In 1958, Mr. Bergson, living in Florida, acquired this new Jaguar XK 150 S. Two years later, he decided to take it to his Californian home in Napa. Between 1961 and 1998, he drove the car from time to time and he was seen in local exhibitions. In late 1999, he entrusted his car to "XK Unlimited" in view of restoring it in a "concours" state. The task was made easier by the excellent condition in which the body and the chassis were: indeed the car had been driven carefully and parsimoniously. It had never been damaged; neither did it show any signs of corrosion, having been stored in a garage.
From 1999 to 2001, after a full disassembly, the car was repainted in its original "Carmen" red. Some chromes were redone and the interior (including the black leather upholstery) fully refurbished. A complete restoration of the mechanicals was done, comprising specifically the refurbishing of the engine, the transmission, the clutch, the exhaust, the cooling circuit and the electric circuit. In 2009 it was purchased by Mr. Lettieri (from Connecticut) who kept it until 2016, and the car was always maintained by a brand specialist. Very pleasant to drive, this XK 150 S, along with its rare 3.8L sibling, is the most usable and best performing XK. The car drove perfectly during our test drive. It comes with its tools and original log books and displays 102,725 miles on the odometer, about 20 000 of which were covered since its restoration. A beautiful opportunity...
Estimation 155 000 - 185 000 €
