The 1959 Jaguar XK150 S 3.8 pictured here finished in Metallic Gold with a tan leather interior was originally purchased by Lt. Col. R. Hey Jr. of Cherry Point, North Carolina from Jaguar Cars New York.
Fully restored over a two-year period, the car was finished in 2005 and has only been driven 2000 miles since that time. According to the Certificate of Authenticity by the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust accompanying the car in the sale, the Jaguar was originally fitted with a 3.4 liter “S” engine; the Jaguar is now fitted with the more powerful 3.8 liter engine first made available in 1959 and developing a prodigious 265bhp represents the pinnacle of the XK series. Stainless steel headers were installed in place of the original ceramic units, as the primary goal of the restoration was to create a superb all-weather classic rally car.
Professionally executed, the restoration was conducted using only original parts or their contemporary replacement components which included new 16-inch Dayton SS wire wheels, Spax adjustable shocks, and a factory exhaust system. The convertible top and interior are all new including the burled wood dash center panel. Shortly after the restoration was completed the Jaguar was awarded a Best in Class at the 2005 Coast Classic Concours.
It is reported by the vendor that, due to the special attention paid to the restoration of the driveline, the car drives and handles superbly. With stunning good looks and exceptional performance, this Jaguar offers its next lucky owner a multitude of options; be it rallies, tours or concours, this is an XK150 S that can do it all.
