From the owner of the car since 1986: According to the Maryland state original title for this car, it was identified as a 1960 model. According to the Jaguar Heritage Certificate, it was manufactured on 27 November 1958 and was shipped to Jaguar Cars, New York, USA on 8 December 1958. It was sold to the first owner on 17 May 1960. Was it a 1959 model or a 1960 model?

There is always confusion about the model year for cars built from late August through December. It is customary in the USA cars built in those months are considered and sold as the next model year. With imports however, there were not specific model year changes so no identification by model year. It seemed dealers could sell the car for whatever model year they thought they could get away with. Other countries use the model year that the car was first registered so that could also vary some, built in December but not registered until January or February. The assigned model year is vague in those months.
