Auction description:
French registration
Serial number: S 836900 DN
# 7B52328-8 engine

- Rare version 3.8L S of French provenance
- A reliable high performance car
- Eligible for Tour Auto

The car on offer is an XK150 coupe that rolled out of the factory on the 25th of October 1960. It was then a Sherwood green, with matching green leather interior and the car was delivered to a certain Mr. Larquetoux in France by dealers Delecroix/Royal Elysees in Paris. The plaque of the importer is still in the engine compartment and the car has been mentioned in the excellent book by Bernard Viart and Michel Cognet, Jaguar, Sport & Tradition in page 435. Only four 3.8 S were imported to France by Royal Elysees, of which three were coupes and one was a convertible. The provenance and the series of owners is well documented and it was the second owner who changed the color to a purple-blue, the colour that you see on the car today. The car has participated in many events on road and track, and in particular it has participated at several Tour Autos. The specialist Francis Trichet was responsible for the mechanicals since the 1980s and the engine's been honed to develop about 300bhp. Braking is courtesy 305mm Dunlop discs, the large calipers are aluminum twin pistons as approved by FIA. The gearbox is a reconditioned Moss with Laycock de Normanville overdrive. Plus the differential locks are racing specifications. A comprehensive invoice file comes with the car, as well as copies of the first license and the original invoice from Royal Elysee. Eligible for many historic events, this desirable and rare 3.8 S remains an excellent investment and a very attractive entry ticket for the Tour Auto.
FFSA passport. / FIA GTS 7 / Period E.
