This car was owned by Roger Pamperin in Lubbock Texas from 1966 through at least 1998 when he communicated with the jag-lovers.org XK forum about finding a good restoration shop. JK Restorations was recommended at the time, and I believe the car may have found its way there around 2010-11 where I saw it, and it was restored in the original gunmetal with pigskin by JKs. For some reason gunmetal is not one of the pull down choices in the color menu, though it should be for '49-52 cars.

I'm not sure, but it would be possible it was the same colour, but on the XK120 it was called "Silver" just as te white was called "Ivory" on the MKV, but "Cream" on the XK120 and you can be sure that it was the exactly same paint from the same bucket as it went on at Foleshill! Nothing fancy about it. Could also be a different metallic paint but I doubt it. After all they used the same "Pastel Blue" and "Pastel Green" on the MKV and the XK120 and they were all made on the same line, so I think the grey metallic paint was called "Gunmetal" on the big cars and "Silver" on the small sports cars. I own the metal sample -period original- labelled Jaguar , and also other colors, but sadly not all .
