This lovely XK120 is finished in Carmine Red with a contrasting biscuit Connolly leather interior, proper Wilton wool carpeting, and a faun cabriolet roof, and it is being offered after many years in a private collection. Its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate confirms its matching-numbers engine, while its consignor also notes it as having been a JCNA Concours Best in Class winner. It comes equipped with side curtains and is fitted with the correct 54-spoke chrome wire wheels on period wide whitewall tires, fog lamps, and unique tri-bar headlamps. The instrumentation is original to the car, and all the gauges are rebuilt and in working order. Inside the boot you'll find a jack, proper weather equipment, and the tool roll.

The owner proudly notes that the engine compartment, boot, and underside (including the hidden leather gaiters enclosing the rear springs) have been cosmetically restored to show standards. This XK-120 has been the subject of a search I've conducted over several years. I was seeking to determine if my XK120 OTS might be the same as was owned by an infamous previous owner, or more precisely the husband of the woman accused and convicted of her murder. He was later pardoned but not cleared, and died trying to prove his innocence. She was a Cleveland socialite, he a well respected medical doctor. The scandal garnered international attention and inspired myriad newspaper and magazine articles as well as an acclaimed TV series and Oscar nominated feature film.

He was Dr. Sam Sheppard.

In the both the TV series and movie Dr. Sheppard took on the name Richard Kimble, played respectively by David Janssen and Harrison Ford. The TV series and movie bore the same title: "The Fugitive".

The same VIN reported for this car appears on the official court list of her assets at the time of Mrs. Sheppard's murder.
