This 1954 Jaguar XK120 was sold new at Hornburg Jaguar in Los Angeles and remained with the first owner until 1974. It is reported to have traded hands twice before undergoing an extensive restoration in the mid 1990s, at which point the color was changed from Pastel Green to the current British Racing Green. The seller has added a few hundred miles since acquiring it out of a private collection in Arizona last year. Power comes from the numbers-matching 3.4-liter twin-cam six, which is equipped with twin SU carburetors and paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. A folding soft top and side windows are included with the sale, along with records back to 1989, and a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. This XK120 is now being offered on an Alabama transferrable registration.
The car has reportedly been driven sparingly since the restoration was completed in 1996, and it is said to have remained in climate-controlled storage while with the previous owner.
A set of fender skirts are currently mounted, and the steel wheels come fitted with period-style Excelsior radial tires. Most of original hardware was reportedly refurbished and reused during the restoration.
Trimmed in Suede Green from the factory, the interior has been reupholstered in tan leather with matching carpet.
46k miles are shown on the odometer, though the actual mileage is unknown. The lens for the fuel gauge is currently cracked.
The car is reported to be in mechanically stock specification and retains its original 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six. Power is sent to the rear axle through a 4-speed Moss gearbox, and during the most recent service work was performed on the front suspension and electrical system.
The cylinder head stamping and correspond F 3885-8 and are confirmed original by the included Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.
A refurbished tool kit, grease gun, tire pump are included with the sale along with a jack, lug wrench, and matching spare.
According to Jaguar, the car was built in July 1954 to 1955 model year specifications. Service and restoration records dating back to 1989 are included with the sale.
