Opening bid $50,000 reserve not met, no bids yet 6 days left in auction. Buy it now price $120,000. Car now said to be in Sterling, Virginia. 62k miles.

Sellers description:
This is a beautifully and expertly restored 1953 Jaguar XK-120 convertible. This is the very rare DHC (drop head coupe convertible) which is more luxurious on the interior than the more common roadster model. This vehicle features real wood on the dashboard and interior window frames.

Runs great and fun to drive. I routinely drive it at highway speeds (55 MPH) easily. The XK-120 is a powerful car. This car is correct in every way I know. The engine has not been modified.

I suppose the car would not yet be considered "perfect" at the moment since I do, in fact, drive the car on the highway once in a while rather than only trailering it to nearby car shows. This car is always a stunner at car shows and on the highway.

I have owned the car for about five (5) years and keep it indoors in my garage. The title is clear and in my hand.

Now offered at:
www.classic-chrome.net/cars/jaguar-xk120-drophead-coupe-1953-historic-plate-red

Sellers description:
This beautiful Jaguar XK120 Drophead Coupe - Chassis Number: 677102 & Engine Number: W8365-8 is a 'matching numbers' car according to the Jaguar Heritage Certificate and it was supplied new by Jaguar distributor, Charles Hornburg of Los Angeles, California in the Spring of 1953 and was sold to its first owner, a Mr A J Urquhart of Lind in Washington State in June 1953 and registered with the number plate 83658 - the same as the Engine number and common practice in the early 1950's in the USA.
The car remained in his family for many years and we know that it was the subject of an extensive and professional rebuild in the mid 1990's. It was sold to an enthusiast in Virginia in 2006 and was subsequently sold in late 2010 on Ebay and imported to the UK in January 2011.

There is a more information on this car on the XK Data website which makes interesting reading: www.xkdata.com/cars/detail/

Finished in Carmen Red with Beige Leather trim, Beige Carpets, Beige Soft Top with headliner, Burr Walnut Dashboard + Door Cappings, original instrumentation, Vintage Radio (nor currently working), original Bakelite Steering Wheel, excellent Chrome-work all around, a superb straight six 3.4 XK Engine, 4 Speed Gearbox and 16" Chrome Wire Wheels with BF Goodrich vintage White Wall tyres.
It has a recorded mileage of 63,750, but we cannot confirm its actual mileage due there not being any USA history, but we were advised that it has only covered around 5,000 miles since its restoration in the USA in the mid 1990's and was also driven fairly regularly by a previous owner in Virginia who owned it for 5 years before it was sold and imported to the UK.

Since arriving here, it has had a complete suspension and Brake overhaul with new shock absorbers and new anti-roll bar bushes all round, leather covers on Leaf Springs and new Brake Shoes all round. Mechanically it is excellent with a lovely smooth Engine with very good oil pressure and a delightful Gearbox. The body and paintwork is extremely good and there is no visible rust or corrosion anywhere on the car and the interior trim is also excellent. We sold the car 3 years ago to a well known ex-footballer and England Manager who was going to tour France in the car with his wife, but this never materialised and it has therefore spent the last 3 years in dry storage.

This XK120 is a highly desirable car for classic rallies and a superb example that really must be seen and driven to be fully appreciated.
Upon sale, we will put a new MOT on the car (although not required on pre 1960 cars) and we will give it a service and full checkover.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
