This 1952 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe was produced in March 1952, underwent a refurbishment in Pennsylvania at some time prior to 2010, and subsequently was housed in a Canadian collection before being acquired by the selling dealer from a New York collector in 2024. The car is powered by a rebuilt 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and has been refinished in black over red leather. Features include Marchal fog lamps, rear fender spats, 16″ steel wheels, hubcaps, dual SU carburetors, an electronic ignition, an electric fan, and a stainless-steel dual exhaust system. This XK120 is now offered with an owner’s manual, a tool roll, tire-changing tools, and transferable New York registration.
The car was refinished in black during the aforementioned refurbishment. Features include an aluminum hood, doors, and trunk lid as well as an early ribbed grille, Marchal fog lamps, tri-bar headlights, dual mirrors, a split front bumper, rear bumperettes, and rear fender spats.
Body-color 16″ solid steel wheels wearing chrome hubcaps are mounted with Dunlop tires, and a spare is stowed under a shelf in the trunk along with a tire pump and tools. Suspension consists of control arms, torsion bars, telescopic dampers, and an anti-roll bar up front along with a live axle, lever-arm shocks, and semi-elliptic leaf springs with leather gaiters out back. Braking is provided by 12″ Lockheed drums with brass-sleeved master and wheel cylinders.
The cabin features red leather seats with color-coordinated door panels and carpeting and a refinished burl wood dashboard, window trim, and door caps. Amenities include a heater, tinted sun visors, a green-felt-lined locking glovebox, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, an in-dash map drawer, and vent windows.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer and a reverse-sweep tachometer with a 5,200-rpm redline and an inset clock as well as a switchable oil- and fuel-level gauge, a combination oil-pressure and coolant-temperature gauge, and a Lucas ammeter. The five-digit odometer shows 16k miles, approximately 50 of which were added by the selling dealer. The speedometer needle tends to bounce around when the car is being driven.
The rebuilt 3.4-liter inline-six is equipped with dual overhead camshafts, aluminum cylinder heads, a pair of SU sidedraft carburetors, a cold-air intake box, and an electric fan as well as a replacement stainless-steel dual exhaust system with straight-through pipes. An electronic ignition has been installed, and electrical components including a Lucas coil and a pair of six-volt batteries are wired with a replacement harness.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The car is accompanied by an owner’s operating manual, a tool roll, tire-changing tools, and a tire pump.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its transferable New York registration document.
