This car was mentioned in XK Bulletin Vol 9 No 4, April 1977 by Roger Woodley(of Jaguar) in an article about XK 150 Roadsters. He stated it was maroon and owned by a Mr Hutton, but queried whether it started as a 3.4 or 3.8

In a follow-up letter in the XK Bulletin of July 1977 Mr Hutton stated that it was a 3.4 with two SU carbs. He sold it to Richard Allen and he sold it to dealer Coys of Kensington circa 1972/3. Mr Hutton also stated that Andrew Whyte said it was a works demo car "which accounted for a few odd bits and pieces"

This car was mentioned in a letter in Jaguar Driver magazine July 1989 p.37 by the then owner, Chris K. Wirtenan of Wausau WI 54401 USA seeking further information. He listed the engine number as V7114-8, colour blue. There is an excellent colour photo he provided. There are plaques with the car showing it attended XK Register events in England in

the early 1970s. He stated it was in the James C Leake collection and sold by Christies in Texas in 1974.

I have just purchased this car in a somewhat stripped down condition. It has become separated from its original engine V-7114-8 and it would be fantastic if this engine could be reunited with the car if it’s sitting in a shed or a dusty corner of a garage.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
