Current bid $17,100 reserve not met, 26 bids, 1 day left in auction. 52k miles.
Sellers description:
A “driver” quality non-matching number Jaguar.
The engine is a 1963 E-type with 2 SU carbs.
This Jag was stored in California during the 70s then shipped to a barn in Virginia in the early 80s where it sat until 2001 when I bought it. We rebuilt the carbs, rodded and cored the radiator, put in a new thermostat, new water pump, a big electric fan, replaced all the hoses and belts and after sitting for 30 years it runs unbelievably well, doesn’t even break a sweat in the summer heat in Virginia. Over the last 5 years it has been upgraded a little at a time with upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, rack mount, complete Bell exhaust, fuel pump, voltage regulator, new distributor cap and plug wires, brake shoes and drums on the front, new leather seats and rugs, re-chrome and very basic paint job.
It is a joy to drive with its Moss box and drum brakes. I say a joy because it takes some practice to master driving these older Jags. Most of the wiring is original, but we have still made it through enough rain storms on trips to NJ and NC. Since we bought the Jag it has been garaged in a heated shop. Please beware that you are NOT bidding on a concourse Jaguar. There is a little rust underneath and in door sills, no major holes, and the body should be stripped and repainted within a few years, but for now, the car looks quite nice and gets tons of compliments wherever we take it. The photos are a pretty good representation, but the finish paint and body work are far from perfect.
The engine burns no oil and has good compression, but it does drop some oil, probably from the rear main seal. I honestly feel this wonderful old Jag will run indefinitely with basic maintenance and gradual upgrades over time, so this gives a new owner some nice options.
There are some extra items that go with the Jag –
¾ of a leather hide for door panels
Some dash board end pieces
Bottom radiator pipe and hard rubber hose
Windshields
Rubber kit – complete in box
