This 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE roadster is said to have remained in the same family for approximately 60 years before being acquired in 2020 by the seller, reportedly following around four decades in storage. Finished in red over red leather, the car is powered by a numbers-matching 3.4-liter inline-six equipped with dual SU carburetors and paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional features include chrome fender-mounted side mirrors, a black California license plate, and polished 15” knock-off wire wheels. The car runs and drives but is in need of mechanical and cosmetic refreshment. This XK120 is being offered with a spare set of wheels and parts along with a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Said to have been previously finished in white, the car was repainted its current shade of red some time in the 1970s. The driver’s rear taillight lens is missing, one of the front bumperettes is pushed back farther than the other, and various scratches, dents, paint chips, and other imperfections can be seen up-close in the gallery below. An uninstalled soft top and side curtains are included in the sale.
Polished 15” wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and mounted with 205/70 Michelin XZ4 whitewall tires. Spare wheels mounted with older tires will accompany the vehicle.
The cabin features seats trimmed in red leather with matching carpeting over the transmission tunnel and a white dash and door panels. A toggle switch has been installed in place of the factory ignition. The upholstery is cracked, torn, and peeling, the driver and passenger-side carpets are missing, and the trim on the dash panel is beginning to peel. Areas of rust-through are visible on the rear bulkhead behind the seats.
A four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 38k miles, around 25 of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter inline-six features dual SU carburetors and was reportedly modified to accept leaded fuel some time in the 1970s. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The car was recently removed from approximately 40 years of storage and mechanical servicing is recommended. The seller notes that the carburetor air cleaners are missing.
Cylinder head stamping 9449-8S matches the number displayed on the chassis plate. Matching engine block stamping
Areas of corrosion are visible on the underside.
The car is titled using engine number W94498S, the chassis number is on the plate.
