This 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE Roadster was sold new at Hornburg Jaguar of Los Angeles and remained in California for much of its life prior to its acquisition by the current owner in 2019. The car is finished in light yellow with a tan soft top over a tan leather interior and is said to have been refurbished at some point during the 1990s. Power is provided by a 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and factory Special Edition upgrades include higher-lift camshafts, a dual exhaust system, and wire wheels. This XK120 is now being offered on consignment by the selling dealer in Stratford, Connecticut with an owner’s manual, tool kit, Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, and a clean California title.
The exterior is said to have been repainted its current shade of light yellow sometime during the 1990s. A tan soft top and side curtains are included in the sale. Additional features include chrome trim, a dual exhaust system, front and rear bumperettes, and fender-mounted mirrors. Paint chips and an area of bubbling are visible on close inspection.
Polished 16” wire wheels feature knock-off hubs and are wrapped in older Dunlop Road Speed RS5 tires that show cracking in the sidewalls. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners, and a matching spare wheel is found in the rear storage area.
Factory-finished in red, the cabin has since been reupholstered in tan leather with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Lap belts are fitted for both occupants.
A black four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a leather-accented dash that houses Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows just over 62k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter inline-six features dual SU carburetors and was factory-rated at 160 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The selling dealer reports that an oil change was performed earlier this year.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, and additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery below.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists the original completion date, chassis number, and colors. A reproduction data plate has been installed that shows the current powertrain numbers, though the Heritage certificate indicates they are not the original components.
