This exceptional 1954 Jaguar XK 120 SE Roadster was delivered new into the USA in April 1954 and sold via the now famous New York Jaguar distributor Hoffman Motor Cars, then Jaguar distributor for the eastern United States. We understand that the first owner hailed from New Jersey, cherishing and using it minimally and then taking it off the road in 1967. The car's second owner/collector/restorer purchased it in February 1974 and it then remained in this same ownership for the next 30 years.
The current owner, with access to his own in-house restoration facility, has since given this matching numbers Jaguar a lengthy ground-up, nut and bolt restoration over an 8-10 year period and this has been undertaken to an exacting degree of standard with priority given to mechanical driving performance paramount over preparing the car for any show circuit duties. Remembering that it was delivered new as a Special Equipment model (thus featuring the improved cylinder heads and with a dual exhaust producing an extra 20bhp compared to the stock XK 120 models) this car has since benefitted from a complete engine rebuild and is now with overbored cylinders, C-Type camshafts, valves guides and springs all of which further enhance the performance. Since we count ourselves (Mr. Morris actually) an XK120 owner for over 30 years, it is his opinion that this example drives and performs quite supremely. The mileage showing now is about 11,500 and which is some 1,500 or so miles since the restoration was finished and, quite possibly, still the correct and original mileage from new. The roadster is finished in the rewarding color scheme of dark Pacific blue paintwork with red leather upholstery and it is offered fitted with chrome 60-spoke wire wheels, a tool roll, knock-off hammer, air pump, jack, workshop manual and a tonneau cover.

Originally sold by Hoffman Motorcars, this XK120 eventually wound up in the hands of a highly respected marque specialist for his private collection. Both were completely rebuilt during the restoration process.
The car was recently entered in a regional car show at Saratoga Springs New York where it effortlessly took best in class.
The quality of the restoration ( which took ten years to complete ) is apparent with your first glance. The panel fit, finish, interior trim, chrome, lighting, leather interior, seals, wheels and tires, engine and engine bay are all in magnificent condition.
The car runs beautifully and starts right up. Every light and switch work as they should. This 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE roadster was refurbished under prior ownership, and it is finished in dark blue over red leather upholstery. Power is provided by a 3.4-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes chrome-plated 16″ knock-off wire wheels, a split windshield, dual SU carburetors, and Smiths gauges. Acquired by the selling dealer in January 2024, this XK120 SE roadster is now offered with a tonneau cover, a tool roll, a tire pump, and a clean Ohio title.
The car left the factory finished in Cream and was repainted dark blue under prior ownership. Exterior features include a split front bumper, chrome rear bumperettes, a split windshield, fender vents, and dual exhaust outlets. A tonneau cover is included in the sale.
Chrome 16” wire wheels are secured by two-eared knockoffs and mounted with 185-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. A matching spare is secured in the trunk. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners. Replacement suspension and brake components were installed during the refurbishment.
The cabin was refreshed under prior ownership and houses red leather seats along with a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. The seller states that the seats have been modified to provide approximately 6″ of additional legroom. The trim along the door sills is frayed.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a central instrument panel housing Smiths instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep tachometer with an inset clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 12k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and is said to have been overhauled under prior ownership, at which time the wiring harness was replaced. Service in preparation for the sale consisted of replacing the battery and changing the oil.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was reportedly overhauled under previous ownership. The rear differential is also said to have been rebuilt and a replacement clutch installed.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original configuration and colors, along with the original chassis, engine, body, and gearbox numbers.
