Auction description:
Lot 02: Jaguar XK120 SE Sports Roadster
Exceptional Motor Cars, Christies (5th June 2005)
Overview
This is a special opportunity to purchase one of the all-time classic British sports cars. Some minor mechanical servicing would seem appropriate to prepare this driver, or an exterior paint restoration would complete an otherwise solid and most desirable of all the XK examples

Auction description:
Lot Number 57
1954 Jaguar XK120 Roadster
2015 The Houston Classic Auction
ESTIMATE: $80,000 - $100,000
CHASSIS NO: S675708
• Long-Time Texas Car
• The Ultimate Year of XK120 Production
• Lovingly Restored and Mechanically Sound

1954 was the final year of XK120 production, and this fine Roadster has been part of two esteemed Texas collections. The restoration was obviously performed on a straight, rust-free car, as the panel fit and gaps are excellent. Finished in Old English White, this superb XK120 Roadster sports the original dash panel with its correct brass plaque and period instruments. The seats are fine black leather, and with the correct carpets and door panels in place, everything looks clean and proper inside.

The immaculate engine bay reflects the excellent all-round mechanical condition of the car; with the big six at idle, you'll wonder if the car is even running. Take a good look underneath as well, and you'll see a clean and properly prepared undercarriage. The car has been fitted with disc brakes however the original drums come with the car. The boot offers the correct mat, spare wheel, and has a full original tool roll and jack.

Mechanically strong, very reliable and well finished, this desirable Roadster offers the new owner every option for club touring, concours events, and even judging. Good enough for show and even better to go, it's a drivers delight and motoring art in the truest sense of the word.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
