Sellers description:
Lot #960
Location: West Hartford, Connecticut
Chassis: S676049
Engine: F37228S
This 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE is a matching numbers late production example. As confirmed by the Jaguar Heritage certificate, this is a Special Equipment car finished in its original color and retains its original engine which has the desirable 8:1 compression ratio, 4-speed transmission, rear end, frame and body. The car was produced on July 13th, 1954 and sold new to James R. Young of Los Angeles, California. It then passed to its second long-term owner who owned it for more than forty years. The SE cars featured several upgrades in engine performance and handling over the standard XK120, and this one is said to be nice driving car on the road.
The removable convertible top on this car appears to be very recent, with good looking black fabric and a generally taut looking appearance. The rear window panel is of the zip-in type, an update to the range which came in late 1953. The car also has its original side curtains in excellent condition.

Excellent Restoration
Offered here is a 1954 XK120 SE, the last year of production for this legendary car. Its lovely appearance is nicely set off by Old English White with a black canvas top and a red interior. Jaguar's finely sculpted XK120 lines are prominently displayed on this nicely restored example that looks great in all areas. It rides on factory wire wheels with black wall tires and the simplicity of Jaguar's XK120 design is characterized in its split front bumper with the simple, but elegant Jaguar oval grille. At the rear are two simple vertical bumper guards and small tail lamps for a clean look. The interior of this XK120 is nicely restored in beautiful red leather and Jaguar's center mounted gauges on the dash have received a full restoration. At the heart of this XK120 is Jaguar's famous twin cam six that won so many races on every continent. This XK120 also carries the SE or "Special Equipment" performance package that featured wire wheels, increased power, stiffer suspension, and a dual exhaust system.

Condition Excellent
Offered here is a 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE (Special Equipment) with a matching #’s twin cam six cylinder, last year of production for this legendary car. This is a factory built SE model with performance package. Featured here with stainless wire wheels, increased power, stiffer suspension, dual exhaust system (stainless). The head is stamped "HC" which is the unique very rare factory C-type head. Heritage certificate is available and all the numbers match. Color is Cream (Old English White) which may need a bit of touch up but is currently in nice driver quality with black canvas top. The interior is nicely restored in beautiful red leather which is showing some age but still very presentable. Carpeting is presentable but shows some wear. Black soft top is in excellent condition. Side curtains are also included and are in very nice condition. There is no tool kit provided with this however the original Jack is still in the car.
The history of this car tells us it was originally sold through a Los Angeles, California Jaguar dealer in 1954 to a man in California where it stayed until the early 70’s. It was then purchased by it’s second owner who kept it for 40+ years. During the last of those (around 2006) there was a complete restoration done including rebuilding the engine, drivetrain, all gauges restored, brakes, all brake lines, fuel lines, paint, etc… At this time a tan interior was also installed.
After the sudden death of the owner a Connecticut classic car sales and restoration facility took ownership from the family. During this time the car was gone through again changing out the tan interior for the factory original red it has now. All mechanical issues were tended to as well as a refurbish of the entire undercarriage making this a wonderful driver level Jaguar. There were no service records available from the family of the second owner as his death was sudden and those records were not kept. However, they maintained the owner had several classics over the years and kept them all in very good condition. This was one of his favorites and he drove the car quite a bit. Mileage reflects this as it looks to have turned just over 100K. However, the condition of the car does not reflect the mileage as it is a very nice driver level that could be a show car with a little work.
In 2017 this XK120 was purchased by the current owner (now deceased). He was an elderly gentleman who’d always dreamed of driving an original XK120 SE over 100MPH. He made his dream come true that year. He subsequently kept the Jag under cover and rarely used it during his last year or so due to poor health. He sadly passed in 2022. This car is now being offered for sale by his sons who have also kept it inside a locked facility. This car has a clean Virginia title which will be offered with a Bill of Sale. If buyer requests a Pre-Purchase inspection that is fine. You may bring your own mechanic or we can provide you with a recently retired professional mechanic on site. A lift is available for a detailed inspection at the location the car is being stored.
