This car was owned from new by the famous American thriller writer, Mickey Spillane. He had previously owned an XK120 (S674755). Mickey Spillane wrote to the XK Gazette in Febrary and March 1998.

He explained that the car had been given to him by actor John Wayne as a thank you for re-writing a film script for him. In 1998 he still owned the 140, with only 33,000 miles on the clock. He died in 2006.
