Description from above listing:
The XK150 roadster color blue was originally delivered to the United States of America, to Jaguar New York. It was displayed in their showroom. A little over a year later, the XK150 receives its first owner/driver in 1959. The production date of this particular car is April 1958. In that month, 163 of the XK150 OTS left hand drives were made in the Jaguar factory in Coventry, England. The first owner lived in Birmingham, Alabama. Around 1980 the XK150 went into the ownership of Th. Waltz in Medina, Ohio.

The current owner bought the car from Waltz in 1994 and brought it back to Europe. Because this Jaguar enthusiast had quite a few more XK restorations going on at the time, the car didn't get to be restored until around 2006.

During the beginning of the restoration, starting of course with the chassis and technology, there were some concerns about the body after disassembling. The body turned out to be in extremely bad shape.

After countless talks with Jaguar specialists and getting advice about where the best sheet metal workers are located for these types of Jaguars, he traveled to England, where the specialist of XK bodyworks is located. You really can't believe your eyes at John Brown! From all over the world people ship bodies from Jaguar XK120, XK140 and XK150 to him for restoration.

It's because John Brown bought all body part molds from the Jaguar factory, that he can now customize all those parts, including those from the XK models. Back then the parts were all handmade and to this day John Brown still does it exactly like that.

During the conversation about the body that had to be restored, we got an idea to maybe do the whole body in aluminum. The reason being that almost 70% of the car had to be renovated. The bonnet and tailgate were already made of aluminum in the factory.

The first series of the predecessor, the XK120, were all made of aluminum in the factory at the time. None of the XK140 or XK150s were made like this. The only XK140 that is all aluminum was build and now owned by John Brown.

In several conversations John Brown mentioned that it would be a great challenge to also build my XK150 from all aluminum, it would be the only one in the world as far as we know. So, in 2009 he accepted the challenge and started working on the body.

We were now able to custom build the XK150 body for taller people, by building in a paddle box and putting it more in front for better driving comfort. The body also got modified for an S specification version. The car was bought like this in America, although it didn't come as an S version originally. We thought we had to keep it this way, since it would be a wonderful racer car with a light aluminum body and a fast engine. Fins got added on top of the bonnet for a better thermoregulation underneath the bonnet of the car. Lastly we decided on getting bucket seats. We thought it would fit this type of Jaguar the most. These were also customized by John Brown.

During this time, it was also decided to overhaul the engine at VSE Sport in Wales. During my visit at this restoration factory their expertise became very clear as well, concerning overhauling Jaguar engines. Right in the middle of the meadows you have several halls filled with around 80 Jaguar motor blocks, all here to be restored. After consulting Beth from VSE Sport we had a plan made up about how to tune the engine. They overhauled the 6 cylinder as an S specification engine, tuned it and tested it. The noise that comes from that engine is unbelievable! Sounds like music to your ears. The test report came back positive, so we packed up the engine and drove back to the Netherlands. The only unfortunate thing is that you have to have a lot of patience! The average time for a overhaul project like this is almost a year. But they did an amazing job!

It was absolutely wonderful to pick up the body at John Browns. In 2011 we were finally able to start putting the car together and further the technological restoration. I was finally able to really watch it all from up close, because I found a Jaguar expert right here in Wim van Ginhoven from Calley Cars, in Elburg, the Netherlands. He is an incredibly able, enthusiastic and creative person.

The body was firstly provided of additional plating against chipping of the car paint before spraying began.

Because the car was originally blue, blue, blue (body, leather and hood), the choice was made to keep this color livery. But, due to the fast character of this edition we slightly deviated from the body color, going with an Ecossey blue.

All of the technology, building and finish was done by Calley Cars. The car went on the road in July 2014 and has a Dutch license plate.
