This 1961 Jaguar XK150 fixed-head coupe is a non-running project that was acquired by the seller in its current condition circa 2015. The 3.8-liter inline-six and the Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission that are in the car were sourced from an MK IX and are not fully installed or secured, and there is no driveshaft fitted. Refinished in blue under prior ownership, the car has chrome bumpers, a luggage rack, 16″ wire-spoke wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and deteriorated red and black upholstery. This XK150 project is now offered with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in black, the car was repainted blue under prior ownership and is equipped with chrome bumpers and trim, a rear luggage rack, and a single polished exhaust outlet. Flaws include a misaligned trunk, pitted chrome, paint chips, scratches, areas of corrosion, and holes in the fenders from removed mirrors. Removed window trim is included in the sale.
Knock-off 16″ wire wheels show corrosion, and the finish on the knock-off spinners is flaking. The car is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes.
The front seats and rear bench are trimmed in black and red, respectively, and complemented by a red dashboard and door panels. The driver’s seat upholstery is torn, the interior panels are deteriorating, sections of the carpets are missing, and corrosion is present in the trunk. The right door armrest is not installed but will accompany the car.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel features a brodie knob and fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The speedometer needle rests around 85 mph. The five-digit odometer shows 51k miles, and the total mileage is unknown.
The 3.8-liter inline-six was sourced from an MK IX and has dual SU carburetors. The engine has not been run under current ownership, is not plumbed or wired, is not secured to the chassis, and will require a rebuild.
The car is equipped with a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission that was also sourced from an MK IX and is in need of a rebuild, according to the seller. The transmission is not fully installed, the driveshaft is missing, and the exhaust system is broken. Corrosion and rust-through on the underside are depicted in the gallery.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists a build date of May 23, 1960 and displays the factory colors and serial numbers.
